Feels & Friends Take Over The Echoplex

LA’s grunge punks Feels took over the Echoplex on Friday night with local favorites Walter, Adult Books, and Gal Pals.

1914862_1636099486657158_8553850238401583098_nWe made sure we got there early enough to catch Gal Pals, the two-piece garage punk project of guitarist Lauren Mikus and drummer Jillian Talley, who did not disappoint. As always, Lolipop rockers Adult Books succeeded at getting the crowd to dance to their jangly jams. And it goes without saying that it was a joy to see Walter—which features members of Meatbodies, SadGirl, and Ducktails—who played so hard they blew through a pedal and an amp not even midway through their set.

But the night had only just begun. Headlining the Echoplex for the first time, Feels took the stage with the heavy kind of grunged-out fuzzy punk rock they’re so good at. They blew us away the last time we saw them, and Friday night was no exception.  Feels—Laena, Shannon, Amy, and Michael—have been hard at work on a new album and even performed some of the new material live. Between their chaotic bursts of energy and perfect thrashing hair-whips, there’s just something so entrancing about this band. We have a feeling 2016 is going to be their year.
