LA garage rockers Tongues release the first single off upcoming EP out May 13 via Penniback/Danger Collective Records.
“Reappear” is a blistering, wild track that feels like its split in two. The opening half is a heavy, early metal-like pounder grinding its way into the middle (about the 2:20 mark) where it takes a sudden turn. Very quickly, it escalates into a thrashing, face melting jam that makes for an altogether wild ride.
It comes as the last of a series of songs where the band writes two different parts and tries to piece them together—and it works. Tongues’ singer/guitarist Marcos Vaca tells us the song is “about people who come in and out of your life with no remorse or thought about how it may affect you.” In many ways, the song’s split structure is the perfect complement to that sentiment.
