Upcoming Shows: March Picks

Check out our March Picks for a quick offering of what’s on our radar: Protomartyr/Chastity Belt tour, a gang of Guantanamo Baywatch dates, LA Is Berning, Never Young w/ friends, Sgraffito Gallery’s party, Burger Records x Observatory, Plush, Bear Call, and more.

Mar. 4: Protomartyr w/ Chastity Belt @ Bottom Of The Hill

In 2015, Hardly Art put out two of the best records to come out that year: Protomartyr’s The Agent Intellect and Chastity Belt’s Time To Go Home. Now it’s 2016, and we get to see both bands on the same bill. Literally couldn’t be more excited. Sold out, too.

Mar. 4: Guantanamo Baywatch @ The Smell***

Guantanamo Baywatch are hitting the road all month long, with a handful of dates in California—this is one of them. Thanks to Penniback Records, you can catch them at The Smell w/ Gooch Palms, Tongues, and Janelane.

***Note the night before, they play Bottom of the Hill w/ Meat Market in SF, and the next night in Long Beach (thanks to the boys at Astro Lizard and Freak Style). Also, let’s not kid ourselves, we’ll go see them again at Non Plus Ultra, too.

Mar. 6: Los Angeles is Berning w/ No Age and more

LA’s DAME and The Smell are putting together a fundraiser for none other than Bernie Sanders. Local art punk heroes No Age are set to headline this lineup featuring So Many Wizards, LA Witch, JJUUJJUU, Blue Jungle, CG Roxanne & The Nightmares, Moaning, and many more. #feelthebern12747306_1150641298287095_8210846398965737841_o

Mar. 10: Never Young w/ Crush, Dick Stusso and Jay Som @ Good Mother

Never Young is kicking off their SXSW tour (show dates and locations here) with a final parting show at Good Mother with some crazy good acts. It’s going to be a super packed show so get there early.

Mar. 11: Sgraffito Gallery’s 1 Year Anniversary Benefit

This benefit show will be held at local DIY space Sgraffito and proceeds will go toward maintaining the space. The lineup features some of our favorite east bay acts, which includes Mall Malk, Meat Market, The World and Religious Girls. This one is all ages, two DJs will be spinning, and vegan donuts will be available. Holy smokes, this is going to be rad.

Mar.7-13: Burger x Observatory 5 Year Anniversary

An unbelievable amount of bands are geared to play this 5-day fest in lieu of Burgerama 5—which isn’t happening—but this should hold us over for awhile until Burger Boogaloo in June.

Mar. 18: Wander w/ Plush and Leer @ DNA Lounge

Wander will be releasing their new album Mourning on March 11th via Other People Records and Plush just announced that their Please EP will drop on Father/Daughter Records in April. We couldn’t be more stoked to hear all the new jams live. San Jose rockers Leer will be joining.

Mar. 24: BAUS w/ The World, Neutrals and Tough Customer @ Octopus Literary Salon

A solid bill of Oakland based bands and touring folks at the cozy, tucked away Octopus Literary Salon near the Paramount. We’re excited to see how Neutrals and Tough Customer stack up to the already perfect pairing of noisy rockers from BAUS and The World.

Mar. 29: Bear Call w/Schlemiel O’Neal and Growl @ Hemlock Tavern

Bear Call is back on the scene with pals Schlemiel O’Neal and Growl. Come out to the Hemlock to get your fix of “loveless sloppy seconds,” “garagey/poppy/kevin spacey,” and “fuckpop revival.”

Mar. 30: Head Wound City @ The Satellite

Sure to be a wild one. Listen to the new track “Scraper” from their forthcoming album, A New Wave of Violence. They haven’t released an album in over ten years and rarely ever play,  so don’t blow it.
