New Music: SadGirl “Someone Else’s Skin”

SadGirl performing live at Non Plus Ultra in Los Angeles, CA.

SadGirl recently celebrated the 7″ vinyl release of their new single “Someone Else’s Skin,” along with their take on early Elvis single “Love Me,” via Hard Feelings Records.

Prior to hearing the new SadGirl recordings, we made it out to Non Plus Ultra on June 3 for the release party. The Dirty Laundry TV-presented show was one of the craziest we had been to, literally, a crowd-surfers paradise. Hard Feelings label-mates Wild Wing were on deck to support, while local punks Death Lens kickstarted the whole thing. Let’s just say it was wild from the get go.

One of the best things about “Someone Else’s Skin” is that it’s a slight departure from SadGirl’s previous recordings. It’s a little less surf, a little more punk, and bursting with rock-n-roll soul. It’s only appropriate then, that the record is more or less dedicated to Elvis Presley with the b-side being a cover of “Love Me,” which is itself a cover made popular by The King in his 1956 sophomore album Elvis.

Listen to “Someone Else’s Skin” and “Love Me” below.
