GØGGS—the new project by Chris Shaw, Ty Segall, and Charles Moothart—will play live for the first time at In The Red Records 25th Anniversary party in LA.
We got our first taste of GØGGS last November, when In The Red let out the first single “She Got Harder” via the internet. It’s been quite some time since then, but with an album full of abrasive fuzz and distorted, hardcore punk ready to go, the band is ready for their live debut over two nights (July 15/16).
In a recent interview with Spin, Ex-Cult’s Chris Shaw shares that they recorded the album in about a week and confirms what we already knew—that Ty Segall is good at everything! No surprise there, but Segall apparently wore many hats while making the record, including taking roles as producer and engineer on top of guitar, drums, and back-up vocals. Shaw took on lead vocals and lyrics, while Segall and Moothart traded off on guitars/bass/drums throughout the album. The release also features additional contributions from Mikal Cronin, Corey Hanson (Wand), and Denée Petracek (VIAL).

GØGGS will play for the first time at In The Red Records 25th year Anniversary weekend-long festival (July 14-16) at The Echo and Echoplex, featuring The Oblivians, The Gories, Meatbodies, Wand, The Side Eyes, and more.
