Mall Walk Hosts February Residency at The Night Light in Oakland

Catch Mall Walk tear up The Night Light every Tuesday night this month with local Bay Area acts such as Tiny Head, 1988, Disappearing People and more.

Tonight, Mall Walk kicks off the first night of their residency in Oakland at The Night Light down in Jack London. Every Tuesday night lineup presents a tasty batch of the punk assortment, bringing out bands that seem to have been in hiding along with those that they’ve played with many times before. Mall Walk dropped a new record this past fall titled Funny Papers (via Mt.St.Mtn), prompting the ambitious move of curating a month-long stream of shows for local acts to play with. “In selecting bands, we just wanted to make the whole thing as eclectic as possible. Bring bands from different scenes together,” says Rob Miller (vocals/guitar). “Each week is totally different from the last.”

In a city where music spaces are dealing with crackdowns, residencies in this form are rare to come by. “There is something kind of old school about it,” says Rob. “It’s an opportunity to really hone performance skills and just become a better band.” Mall Walk doesn’t need the practice, but we’re not complaining. It may be your last chance to see them for a while as they take a break from shows and gear up for a tour later this year.

See the week by week lineup below and RSVP here for updates. All shows are 21 & up.
